How to Choose the Right Business

Obtaining a franchise from one of the big name established companies. Unless you have millions of dollars at your disposal, this is not a good option to consider. Brand named franchises like McDonald’s requires an initial investment of $1-$2.2 million, with liquid capital available for $750,000.

Dunkin Donuts requires a fee of $250,000, and you must have a net worth of at least $500,000.

There are many more franchises to choose from but the cost is usually too high. If you are in this financial situation, you’re probably not the target audience for this post.

Is Manufacturing a Product a Good Idea?

In 2002 I created a new revolutionary product for woodworkers. It took over a year to develop the product and another six months to get the patent approved at the cost of $13,000. At first, I had a prototype part 3D printed and later had a few machined out of aluminum on CNC machines at the expense of $30 each. I then tested the market for about six months. The test results indicated I had a product that people wanted, but the products were too expensive to continue manufacturing by CNC machine if I sold it in retail stores. To this end, I switched to having the product injection molded from polycarbonate (plastic) for mass production. The injection molds were expensive to make and cost $35,000. The total cost for all of the parts including packaging and shipping from Taiwan ended up at a little over $18 each. Another challenge was that I had to restock the inventory about every three months at a cost about $8,000.

I marketed my product on a website, I also sold some to retail stores at a discount now that the new lower cost allowed them to make their target profit. Part of my plan was to sell the patent to a brand name manufacturer of similar tools.

Because I was under-capitalized, I did not have the money and knowledge to market it properly or advertise in woodworking magazines. After ten years I finally closed the website because my volume was not large enough to be worth the effort. Statistics indicate there is an 82% chance of failure for first-time entrepreneurs because of Under-capitalization.  Do not be discouraged by these comments, just learn that if you do not have a large sum of money or backing, the statistics are against you. Keep reading because I’ll be recommending a business that bypasses the problems of Under-capitalization. Failure teaches valuable lessons about what not to do.

Businesses that require a storefront

In most offline companies there is two necessary cost, fixed and variable. The fixed price revolves around rent/mortgage and amortization of loans. The different expenses when selling products come from items like salaries and fringe benefits for employees, electricity, water, phone bills. The combination of these costs could add up to $4,000,- $8,000 a month with just a couple of employees. Having this high an overhead can make it very difficult for new business owners.

Other miscellaneous expenses in opening a new business are that you may need to renovate and redecorate the office and showroom if selling products. You’ll need cash registers, counters, shelves, partitions, etc. Your office will need phones, computers, business software. Depending on what you are selling purchasing the inventory to stock the store could be unthinkable. I do not recommend this type of business for anybody with a limited budget.

Is Going to College be a Business?

There are many reasons people go to college. One of the goals is so they can get into a better profession so they can earn a higher income. Most people don’t look at college education as a business investment, but indirectly it is. The investment is 4 to 6 years of your time to get a degree at a cost approaching $225,000 or more depending on the college and the degrees they desire for their chosen profession. Guess what, the expense of the education rivals getting some of the franchises and in most cases takes decades to pay off the college loans to say nothing about all the years studying. There is a saying that time is money, in this case, the high cost of education and the 4 to 6 years of the prime time of their life out of the workforce. It could take almost half of your remaining work life before you even break even.

To top it all off, after investing this time and money there is no guarantee that they will ever get the income or profession they desire. In fact, most graduates end up working in a job enriching the business owner, not themselves. Even with the education and diploma, it could take decades to make the amount of money they hope to earn. With the current economy and automation reducing the need for millions of workers it is very tough for graduates to find a job in their field of study.

NOTE: The comments made here do not mean a college education is a waste of time or money. Being well educated can help you in any endeavor you pursue including owning a business. But, if you end up working for someone else, in all likelihood, you will be helping the business owner become wealthy and they will enjoy the freedom, and quality of life that can come with owning a business.

Highly Successful People Without Business Degrees.

Three notable examples of people without a college degree are Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates. They are all college drop-outs and are among the wealthiest people in the world not because they were college graduates, it’s because they were entrepreneurs who started their businesses.

Keep in mind that these three individuals did not invent the computer, their success was from developing software for computers that would provide the tools that people want and need to get from the computer.

In this post, Simple, Honest Marketing will introduce you to Affiliate Marketing, a business that is done using a computer and the internet with the potential of earning an extraordinarily high income. Notice that this is very similar to what Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, and Bill Gates have done. There’s no guarantee of success for anyone, but with hard work and time, thousands of people are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and many making over a million dollars a year through Affiliate Marketing. Most of them were people without a unique talent, college degree or advantage, and there’s no reason why you can’t do it also.

The Goal is to Have a Happy Fulfilling Life!

When searching for the ideal profession, you should consider how many of the most fundamental desires you want to fulfill to achieve balance and happiness in your life. How many of these are essential to you?  Spiritual Awareness – Physical Health – Financial Stability – Family Unity – Intellectual Challenges – Career Freedom. The more of these attributes you can fulfill while working, the happier you’ll be. Develop a passion for your work, it will bring out the best in you, and you’ll never feel like it’s a JOB because it’s enjoyable.

“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me. Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful, that’s what matters to me.” — Steve Jobs

Why is Affiliate Marketing the Best Business to start?

Unlike any of the businesses discussed above, which all require tons of money without any guarantee of success. The starting cost of Affiliate Marketing can be as low as $25 a month, that’s less than one dollar a day. In an upcoming post, we’ll discuss many topics that you’ll need to know and can be obtained free. So do not be concerned, for now, just use the free information to get the business going. Later on, you can always invest in the advanced training after you are making some money. If you are not eager to start this money-making opportunity today, you’re passing up on one of the best opportunities that ever existed. Two of the habits commonly found in winners is a belief in themselves and the ability to take action.

    1. Can you start your business working part-time from home?  Yes, and this is very important because it reduces the financial risk because you are still earning income from your regular job. Besides that, you may already own all of the hardware required to do this activity. You can do the business from anywhere in the world that has access to the internet. A computer is the best device to use, but it can also be done with a smartphone, or a tablet as long as you have a WIFI or a phone connection. From my observances no matter where I am I see people of all ages on their tablets or cell phones playing games reading digital books or just communicating with their friends with text messages or emails. Many are shopping on the internet. If you’re someone who routinely does these things, you must enjoy it; therefore, Affiliate Marketing will be a natural transition for you, and you’ll be happier doing it and you will be getting paid to do it. If you haven’t noticed it, these two bullets alone eliminated the Under-Capitalization risk that causes 82% of business start-ups to fail.
    2. Affiliate Marketing is an occupation that could result in you having money deposited into your account while you sleep, are wide awake or on vacation. Envision receiving a continuous flow of money from all over the world. Can you imagine having a business that once you set it up, it runs on autopilot whether you’re actively working or not? Imagine being able to do what most people can only dream about while your business generates profits for you 24 hours a day seven days a week.
    3. Affiliate Marketing will be a natural activity for the younger generations who have grown up with the required skills. I have two great-grandchildren who are under seven years old who are more proficient with using a Tablet and Smartphone than I am. For people of older generations, it’s not unrealistic for them to learn the necessary skills to succeed in this venture. I’m a baby boomer, and I’m doing it.
    4. Mindset and a positive attitude are also essential ingredients that will be important to you achieving long-term success. We’ll also discuss these attributes to assist you in your personal, business and financial life. Here you can learn how to free yourself from outdated methods and earn a fantastic amount of money while being boss. No more 9 to 5 workdays and commuting in heavy traffic. Your age, race or sex are not constraints, and there are people of many ages succeeding beyond their wildest dreams. You just need to recognize the newest trends and opportunities that lay before you.

Still in Doubt? Consider the “Road Less Taken”

Like the Robert Frost poem says, changing the road you are now traveling could make all the difference. If you’re not reaching your goals, income, and dreams you may be going down the wrong road, consider a different road to travel.

For many, the road most taken has resulted in the loss of jobs and lowering of wages. The cause of these changes come from the explosion of technology, robot manufacturing, smartphones, and digital information over the past few years. Let’s face it, these changes have eliminated millions of jobs and automation is merely getting started, it will only get worst. I do not see manufacturing will return to the ways of the past with humans. These are permanent changes and should make you want to explore what the next opportunity is going to be. Advice that was good for my generation is no longer relevant. Honestly, people born in the last two generations have the world in their hands with a bright future if they seize the opportunities that are available today.

“Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Is This the Right time for You?

Almost everyone wants to know what their future holds for them now. If you haven’t made any changes lately in all likelihood, it will pretty much be the same as it is. If the answer is that you’re not satisfied with where you are, you’ll need to make some changes. Fortunately, you can get to where you want to go if you take a difference in direction.

Great opportunities only appear twice in a lifetime. Is this your first opportunity or second opportunity? A few simple question I pose to you is, will you recognize a million dollar opportunity when it presents itself? Will you be charitable with your profits? What else do you need for you to leap towards your success? You’re the only one who can figure it out and make the decision. By clicking here and leaving your first name and email address we will provide you with information on how to get started and eventually reach your dreams.
